Update: As of January 2017, Sean O’Brien was fired and no longer works for or is associated with Kinsta.
Sean will be helping us with recruiting, marketing, fundraising, product development, and sales. He has also played a critical role in opening our new office in Los Angeles on Wilshire Boulevard, which he will be heading up to give us access to West Coast talent and capital.
Sean comes to us from Pagely where he spent 2 years running all of their sales and marketing. Prior to Pagely, Sean had a few startups of his own and was featured in a cover story for Entrepreneur, for helping take the original patented canopy chair to market which led to $10MM in annual revenue and was later acquired by Swimways Corporation. He has also been featured in places like Inc., BBC, CIO, VentureBeat, Slate, and Yahoo.
In addition, Sean has worked as an SEM consultant for WPP, the world’s largest advertising firm by revenue. There he helped manage search marketing strategy for household brands like Crest, Swiffer, Febreze, Dawn, RadioShack, as well as pharmaceutical firms Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline, and Allergan. This in-depth knowledge of the search space will further help us expand our reach around the globe.
Sean is a Harvard dropout and graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University with degrees in both finance and economics, and a minor in information systems. He also holds a graduate certificate in marketing strategy from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. In his free time he enjoys snowboarding, racing, MMA, and especially world travel.
On Sean’s recent trip over to our European offices, I had the pleasure of challenging him to some proper kart racing. However our CEO Mark was somehow able to beat both of us, which we’re still in agony over.
We’re very pleased that you’ve joined our team. Welcome aboard Sean! Please help us in welcoming Sean to the Kinsta team!
