We hebben al <a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/zo-installeer-je-wordpress-plugins\/\">verschillende manieren om een WordPress plugin te installeren<\/a> laten zien. Om daarmee nog een stapje verder te gaan, zullen we het in dit artikel hebben over enkele manieren om een WordPress plugin handmatig te updaten wanneer de automatische updates in het dashboard niet werken. Meestal zullen deze automatische updates overigens prima werken. Maar meestal is niet altijd. Het is daarom dus best handig om te weten hoe je een WordPress plugin handmatig kan updaten, voor het geval dat.<\/p>\n<p>Belangrijke update: Vanaf WordPress 5.5 kan je <a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/wordpress-5-5\/#updating-plugins-and-themes-from-a-zip-file\">plugins en thema&#8217;s updaten door een .zip bestand te uploaden<\/a> vanaf je computer naar je WordPress dashboard.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/manually-update-wordpress-plugin.png\" alt=\"manually update wordpress plugin\" width=\"205\" height=\"205\"><\/p>\n<h2>Zo update je handmatig een WordPress plugin<\/h2>\n<p>In dit artikel zullen we je laten zien hoe je een WordPress plugin kan updaten, op drie manieren:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/handmatig-bijwerken-wordpress-plugin\/#dashboard\">Zo update je een WordPress plugin vanuit het WordPress dashboard<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/handmatig-bijwerken-wordpress-plugin\/#ftp\">Zo update je handmatig een WordPress plugin via SFTP\/FTP<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/handmatig-bijwerken-wordpress-plugin\/#wp-cli\">Zo update je handmatig een WordPress plugin via WP-CLI<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a id=\"dashboard\"><\/a>1. Zo update je een WordPress plugin vanuit het WordPress dashboard<\/h3>\n<p>Voordat we het over de handmatige aanpak hebben, eerst een korte herinnering aan het automatisch updaten van een plugin.<\/p>\n<p>We zullen dit slechts heel kort bespreken, aangezien je waarschijnlijk al bekend bent met deze methode voor het updaten van een WordPress plugin. Het enige wat je hiervoor hoeft te doen is naar het tabblad <strong>Plugins <\/strong>gaan binnen je WordPress dashboard, waar je een melding ziet dat een bepaalde plugin verouderd is, waarna je op <strong>Update Now<\/strong> klikt om de plugin automatisch te updaten.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1066px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/manually-update-wordpress-plugin-1.png\" alt=\"WordPress plugin \u201cupdate now\u201d\" width=\"1066\" height=\"148\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">WordPress plugin \u201cupdate now\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>WordPress haalt dan automatisch de <a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/controleer-wordpress-versie\/\">nieuwe versie<\/a> op en installeert deze voor je. Verder hoef je niks te doen.<\/p>\n<p>Deze aanpak is natuurlijk ideaal en lekker makkelijk\u2026 totdat het niet meer werkt. Dat wil zeggen dat automatische plugin updates <em>99% van de tijd zullen werken<\/em>, maar soms heb je een situatie waarbij:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>De automatische update van de plugin om \u00e9\u00e9n of andere reden niet werkt. WordPress zal je dan meestal melden <strong>&#8220;Plugin upgrade Failed&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Je een externe plugin gebruikt die geen automatische updates biedt. Alhoewel de meeste externe plugins ook automatische updates bieden, kunnen er problemen zijn, waardoor dit niet werkt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In dat soort gevallen moet je dus je handen vuil maken aan een handmatige update van de plugin. Alhoewel dat misschien heftig klinkt, is het eigenlijk vrij eenvoudig om te doen. Geen zorgen dus, we laten je precies zien hoe het moet.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Zo update je handmatig een WordPress plugin via SFTP\/FTP<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Voor de meeste mensen is de beste aanpak voor handmatige updates via SFTP\/FTP<\/strong>. Tenzij je dus erg vertrouwd bent met <a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/wp-cli\/\">WP-CLI<\/a>, raden we je aan om SFTP\/FTP te gebruiken. De FTP-methode is snel, simpel en zal verder geen invloed hebben op de instellingen van je plugin.<\/p>\n<p>Om te beginnen met deze aanpak heb je enkele stukjes informatie en wat tools nodig:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 30px\">\n<li><strong>Een FTP client<\/strong>. Hiermee kan je <a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/zo-gebruik-je-sftp\/\">verbinding maken met je website via SFTP\/FTP<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/beste-ftp-clients\/#Filezilla\">FileZilla<\/a> is een goede gratis optie, die we ook in onze screenshots en uitleg gebruiken, maar je kan elke client kiezen die je wil.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Je SFTP gegevens<\/strong>. We laten je zo zien hoe je die kan vinden voor je Kinsta account. Ben je geen klant bij Kinsta, neem dan contact op met je host voor deze gegevens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Om je SFTP gegevens bij Kinsta te vinden ga je naar <strong>Sites &gt; Info<\/strong>. De SFTP gegevens kan je vinden onder <strong>SFTP\/SSH<\/strong> binnen het dashboard. Je hebt alle vier de gegevens nodig dit daar staan: <strong>Host, Username<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Password<\/strong>, en <strong>Port<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/kinsta-sftp-credentials.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/kinsta-sftp-credentials.jpg\" alt=\"Kinsta SFTP gegevens.\" width=\"1500\" height=\"882\"><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kinsta SFTP gegevens.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Nadat je dit hebt opgezocht, open je de FTP client die je wil gebruiken en maak je verbinding met je website. Hier is de specifieke informatie die je moet invullen in het venster <strong>Connect<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 30px\">\n<li><strong>Host<\/strong>\u2013 Zoals in je Kinsta dashboard, of gegevens van je host. Als je FileZilla gebruikt, moet je nog <em>sftp:\/\/<\/em> toevoegen voor de URL, om een SFTP verbinding tot stand te brengen.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Username\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Uit je Kinsta dashboard, of de gegevens van je host.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Password\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Uit je Kinsta dashboard, of de gegevens van je host.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Port\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013Uit je Kinsta dashboard, of de gegevens van je host.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nadat je via FTP verbinding hebt gemaakt met je website, gebruik je de mappen in het tabblad <strong>Remote site<\/strong> om naar de map <strong>plugins<\/strong> te gaan. Je kan het bestandspad hieronder zien:<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 940px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/manually-update-wordpress-plugin-5.png\" alt=\"WordPress plugin map\" width=\"940\" height=\"349\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">WordPress plugin map<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Vervolgens geef je de map van de plugin die je wil updaten een andere naam door erop te rechtsklikken en <strong>Rename<\/strong> te kiezen. Als je bijvoorbeeld de <strong>add-from-server<\/strong> plugin wil updaten, klik je daar op met de rechtermuisknop en geef je het bijvoorbeeld de naam <strong>add-from-server-old:<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 911px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/manually-update-wordpress-plugin-6.png\" alt=\"Nieuwe naam voor een WordPress plugin map\" width=\"911\" height=\"287\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nieuwe naam voor een WordPress plugin map<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Alhoewel je ook meteen de oude plugin kan verwijderen, zorgt het laten staan ervoor dat je de bestanden meteen terug kan zetten als er iets misgaat. <em>Nadat je hebt gecontroleerd dat alles naar behoren werkt, moet je alsnog de oude versie verwijderen<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h4>Upload de nieuwste versie van je plugin<\/h4>\n<p>Nadat je de map een andere naam hebt gegeven, moet je de nieuwste versie van je plugin downloaden. Staat de plugin op WordPress.org, dan kan je daar gewoon op <strong>Download<\/strong> klikken.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1220px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/manually-update-wordpress-plugin-7.png\" alt=\"Download nieuwste versie van een WordPress plugin\" width=\"1220\" height=\"328\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Download nieuwste versie van een WordPress plugin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Voor andere plugins zal je de meest recente versie van de developer moeten zien te krijgen. Vervolgens gebruik je een tool naar wens om het gedownloade .zip bestand te openen en de map daarin uit te pakken:<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 955px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/manually-update-wordpress-plugin-8.png\" alt=\"Uitpakken van WordPress plugin\" width=\"955\" height=\"294\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Uitpakken van WordPress plugin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Vervolgens zoek je de uitgepakte map op in het tabblad <strong>Local site<\/strong> in je FTP programma en upload je dit naar de <strong>plugins<\/strong> map op je server:<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 990px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/manually-update-wordpress-plugin-9.png\" alt=\"Handmatig uploaden van WordPress plugin\" width=\"990\" height=\"286\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Handmatig uploaden van WordPress plugin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Nadat de upload klaar is, zou je plugin nu de nieuwste versie moeten gebruiken. Je kan dit controleren door naar het tabblad <strong>Plugins<\/strong> te gaan in je WordPress dashboard:<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 903px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/manually-update-wordpress-plugin-10.png\" alt=\"Nieuwste versie van plugin\" width=\"903\" height=\"220\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nieuwste versie van plugin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Controleer dat de plugin nog altijd geactiveerd is (dat zou nog zo moeten zijn). Vervolgens, zolang je geen bugs ziet, zou je nu de oude map moeten kunnen verwijderen van je server, via het FTP programma.<\/p>\n<p><em>Let op, totdat je deze oude map verwijderd, zou het kunnen dat je de plugin twee keer ziet op het tabblad <strong>Plugins<\/strong>. Dat is normaal en vrij logisch, en zou weg moeten gaan zodra je de oude map verwijdert.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Je plugins zouden nu helemaal up to date moeten zijn.<strong> En omdat geen van deze dingen een impact heeft op de <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/nl\/blog\/wordpress-database\/\"><strong>WordPress database<\/strong><\/a><strong>, zouden alle instellingen van de plugin nog precies hetzelfde moeten zijn.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"wp-cli\"><\/a>3. Zo update je handmatig een WordPress plugin via WP-CLI<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Opmerking<\/strong>: Als je geen automatische updates kan doorvoeren omdat alle automatische updates er gewoon uit liggen, zal ook dit methode niet werken. Het is dus alleen een alternatief voor de aanpak via het dashboard, <em>maar kan niet de SFTP aanpak van hierboven volledig vervangen voor alle situaties<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>WP-CLI gebruiken om een plugin te updaten is vrij eenvoudig.
