Independent Reviews of Kinsta

“Kinsta’s performance was top tier”

Kevin Ohashi from ReviewSignal recently published an independent review of 16 different WordPress hosting companies‘ performance. Response time, load testing and uptime were the main focus of this article that took months to complete and I’m happy to say that Kinsta was one of the best performing companies (if not the best!). It’s not a surprise that most large shared hosts have problems with traffic waves – after all that’s why WordPress specialized hosting companies were born in the first place – but as you can clearly see from the results many of these premium hosts had troubles too. For example WP Engine didn’t even make it to the second round and FlyWheel reached its resource capacity in the second round. Pagely has a seemingly great software stack however they constantly deliver pages 1.5x slower than we do, I assume this is because the different hardware and network infrastructure (they use AWS exclusively while we have DigitalOcean, Linode and Vultr cloud servers).

Kevin writes: “Remarkably, some companies didn’t even struggle. Kinsta kept sub one second response times for 30 minutes and nearly a quarter million requests. Most companies had a spike or two causing a higher peak response time, but Kinsta and Pantheon didn’t (and Media Temple had a tiny one at 1.5 seconds). Simply amazing performance.” and for the individual company evaluation “[Kinsta is] A new-comer that jumped straight to the top of the performance tiers. Kinsta’s performance was amazing in the Load Storm 2000 logged in user test. They had the lowest peak response time and zero errors over a 30 minute test. They didn’t struggle with any tests whatsoever and showed zero downtime. Kinsta’s performance was top tier.”

“Kinsta stuck out as a reader favorite this year!”

Another site that’s famous for doing a survey of “honest, unbiased thoughts from hundreds of real WordPress site owners” is WPShout. During the one month period while the survey was open this year they received about 160 entries, then the creators of WPShout, Fred Meyer and David Hayes, took the time to evaluate each and every one of the entries and created a detailed report.

One thing is clear from the results: we truly do our best to make sure all of our clients are satisfied and this is clearly reflected in the results. That and our outstanding server performance:

One note: they were collecting the data about two months ago when we made the change to our new admin interface and since then we’ve made many many modifications to it. Shortly we’ll open it up for everyone (payment won’t be required to access it) so you’ll be able to take it for a spin and see it for yourselves! :)

Another interesting site that was launched recently is which gather independent hosting company reviews from social media users (they’re focusing on Twitter for now) and index and display them without any affiliate links. Kinsta’s currently at 100% positive feedback, but unfortunately, our profile hasn’t been updated for over a month now and in that time we received many many more positive reviews. I will include some them below but you can make a search on twitter for @KinstaHosting so you can browse the comments yourself. Kinsta Reviews

The Site Edge Web Design Agency:

Their (Kinsta) feature set is potentially the best and their support is fantastic. They cover all the basics at an astounding level. Top of the line in speed, features for average & advanced users, and tech support.

When we founded Kinsta, we set out to disrupt the web hosting industry because we believed (and still do) that ground-shaking changes are overdue. I’m really glad to see that we’re on the right track and we’ll make sure to always stay true to our values and our clients. I’d like to say thank you to all of you who have signed up for a Kinsta account and left such amazing reviews everywhere about us. It’s really appreciated.

Congratulations on a fine review, but there’s no need to take shots at others. The review does *not* say Flywheel got “crushed.” In fact the review goes out of its way to put Flywheel in the top category while noting the plan that was tested ($15/mo.) appears to cap resources such that 1500 concurrent users will knock it down pretty hard.

Hey Dan, I absolutely love what the gals and guys at Flywheel are doing and praise them whe(n/r)ever I can! Now if you take a look at the results of Test 2, they don’t look good, whatever the reasons may be. Having said that I will reword the article a bit because it looks like it came out a bit harsher than I intended. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

The reviewer went out of his way to note their performance on that test seemed to be due to a cap or quota for the basic plan he was testing.
