At Kinsta, we know that signing an employment contract represents a leap of faith between an organization and a professional, wholeheartedly hoping to build a meaningful, fulfilling future together.

When they join Kinsta, our team members vow to devote a portion of their time and energy to our organization, and to work with dedication and passion on a plethora of projects. But what’s our promise to them?

In this article, we’ll cover the reasons behind our efforts in this area, as well as the steps we took to reach an attractive and realistic text: our pledge to our current and future team members.

Why Did We Write A Pledge To Our Team?

Putting down our promise in black and white helps us remember what we stand for in relation to what truly is our most precious asset: the people in our present, and in our future. In professional settings, this type of promise is called an Employer Value Proposition (or EVP).

We decided that we’d share our promise with our current employees as a reminder of what they can expect from us.

We also established that we’d use our statement to inspire and attract future team members that would be a great match for us.

Care for a little taste? Here’s a short excerpt from our EVP:

You own your job proudly. Our leaders won’t hold your hand, but they’re always in your corner when you ask for help.

The content inspired by our statement must inform our potential new joiners of our expectations and quirks, all while modeling our “personality” through our tone of voice.

Now, we’re aware that simply consuming our content can’t give you the profound knowledge of Kinsta you’d have if you’d already worked with us awhile. Still, it will help you get a clearer picture of what we’re all about when it comes to how we work and how we treat people.

If you’ll feel inspired and invigorated by our upcoming content, you’ll be more likely to explore further and someday join our team.

If not, you’ll close your tab and move on. No hard feelings.

How Did We Write Our Pledge?

Writing our company’s pledge involved condensing our entire culture into one statement after having filtered it through the lens of our team members.

To do that, there’s no source as valuable as our current and past team members. And that’s just where we started: from their inmost knowledge of the company and of what attracted them to us in the first place.

We sent out an employee feedback form to gather insights on what matters most to Kinstanians, asking our team members what they enjoyed the most about their experience with us, what they believe sets us apart from other employers, and much more.

We went deep! We also gathered every review on our Glassdoor profile.

Between these two sources, we collected well over 1,000 comments. We reviewed them one by one, carefully tagging every response to keep track of how frequently various feedback overlapped.

We paid particular attention to the negative remarks, both because we’re strong believers in constructive criticism and because the last thing we’d want is for our employees to feel anything less than fulfilled.

This particular review is among the most heartwarming, to us:

Everyone (and I mean everyone from the very top on down the line) is kind, helpful, positive, encouraging, and among the very best at what they do.

We provide a tremendous product, and everyone is proud of their unique contributions.

We voice our appreciation and thanks to each other every day. But that’s only possible because the company knows how to hire great people. That makes all the difference in the world. I believe that the Kinsta talent acquisition team is the best in the business.

Inclusivity. Kinsta lives that, they don’t just say it. I’m a member of two groups that are routinely discriminated against or generally passed over for employment, but I’ve never felt anything but welcoming acceptance here.

Once we had a clearer picture of what our team members cherished the most about working with us, we embarked on taking our commitment to the next level.

What’s Next?

We’d like to wrap this up with a shoutout to all Kinstanians for sharing their experiences with us and helping us take our commitment to the next level.
