Infrastructure
Our application hosting, database hosting, and managed WordPress hosting platform doesn’t fall into any of the traditional hosting categories. Our entire infrastructure is built on Google Cloud and Cloudflare, and is different from traditional shared, VPS, or dedicated infrastructure.
Every site on our platform runs in an isolated software container that contains all of the software resources required to run the site (Linux, NGINX, PHP, MySQL). This means that the software that runs each site is 100% private and is not shared even between your own sites.
We use Linux containers as the underlying container technology for our infrastructure.
Each site container runs on a generously sized virtual machine in one of multiple Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data centers and is secured by our free Cloudflare integration.
On our standard plans, each live site container has access to 12 CPUs and 8 GB of RAM by default. Each staging environment on our standard plans has access to 1 CPU and 8 GB of RAM.
Everything is interconnected over the highly reliable Google Cloud Platform’s “premium tier” network. This is designed to minimize distance and hops, resulting in faster, more secure global transport of your data.
Kinsta firewall
Kinsta provides a fully managed Web Application Firewall (WAF) equipped with regularly updated custom rulesets and configurations, ensuring continuous protection against the latest threats. All of our web traffic is routed through Cloudflare, which provides DDoS protection (layer 3, 4 & 7) to block unwanted TCP/UDP connections originating from specific IP addresses or networks at the edge of our network. Additionally, we utilize the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) firewall to safeguard our network from potential attacks that directly hit our infrastructure.
Furthermore, we employ an automated feature that constantly detects brute force attacks on your site’s /wp-login.php
path. We then block these actors from our entire infrastructure, further strengthening our security measures.
