Persistent storage within the context of application hosting is file storage that remains in place regardless of a container’s status. Even if a container is restarted, persistent storage is not removed.
Some CMS, CRM, and ecommerce applications use persistent storage by default and cannot utilize a third-party storage service.
Persistent storage may also be referred to as:
- Non-volatile storage
- Persistent disk storage
- Persistent data
- Persistent volumes
Kinsta’s Application Hosting does not currently offer persistent storage. We provide an ephemeral environment that supports stateless applications. To deploy an application at Kinsta that requires persistent storage, you’ll need to use a third-party storage service for the parts of your application that require that storage.
